Plants. I live in the south where it has been “bring your plants outside” season for a couple of months already. With that said, in our backyard, we have an area that my husband built just for our potted plants and a bench in the shade on which to enjoy them. There’s close to 20 plants in that area, but my two favorites are the poinsettia that I received as a gift last December and a peace lily that the family received when my mother-in-law passed almost three years ago. Both plants have been repotted and are absolutely thriving outside. It is one of my favorite things to do in our backyard, admire our plants. There was a good thunderstorm last night and so this afternoon, the plants are showing their appreciation.

The poinsettia. I had heard that they could be repotted and didn’t have to die and be thrown away after Christmas.
The peace lily that always makes me happy when I see it flowering again. Given to us at a time of profound grief, it is the epitome of the idea that life goes on.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
