I was doomscrolling reels yesterday and I came across one that had someone dancing to a song talking about how it hits different when you’re an adult. I listened to it again today and immediately put it on my “Inspirational” Playlist. The song is “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks. I rocked to this song when I was in high school and that person was right! It does hit different now that I’m an adult! I just took a trip to PetSmart and did my usual rage listening to my playlist in the car on the way and that song had me slapping the steering wheel. How could I not? With lyrics like,

“I’m a bitch, I’m a lover, I’m a child, I’m a mother, I’m a sinner, I’m a saint, I do not feel ashamed, I’m your hell, I’m your dream, I’m nothing in between”

I am so many things, and I am not ashamed of anything that I am.

I know I didn’t relate to it this hard when I was a teenager.

Man! This playlist of mine has turned into a little bit of inspiration with songs like “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban and Christian songs that used to be sung at Mass, to now mostly girl power, be proud of yourself, use your voice kind of songs. I almost feel like snapping my fingers and yelling “You go girl!”

Anybody have other songs that should go on my playlist? I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot.

    1. You know, I really don’t think I ever listened closely to the lyrics of No Rain. The last one sounds familiar and I’m sure I’ve never heard of the middle one. I will definitely check them all out! Thanks for the recommendations!

    2. As soon as I saw the name Meredith the whole song floated in my head. I had that as a cassette single. Yup, the 80/90s version of a 45 record. A playlist with that song and mass songs? I LOVE it!!! My playlist is so eclectic it looks deranged. From Coolio to Barry Manilow amd everything in between.

      1. That’s the best kind of playlist though! A little bit of everything!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
