What topics do you like to discuss?

I feel like the prompt creators read so many of our posts and comments about the repetitive nature of the prompts this week and thought to themselves, “So you don’t like our prompts about taking risks, huh? Well, what do you want to discuss?!” Touché prompt writers, touché.

My recent posts about mental health and my recent career/life change would suggest that I like to discuss them. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly do. However, there are a few things that will get me excited and chatty if I’m in a conversation with someone.

First…analyzing movies and tv shows. Recently my husband and I watched both seasons of “Severance”. I became a little more obsessed with the show than he did. Especially after I got one of my co-workers turned on to it and we began discussing certain episodes. I got easily animated and excited picking apart the show and talking about my theories of why something happened or what’s going to happen next. Or even just pointing out things that I found odd that could be clues. Like, I will analyze something to death. Ask me anything about a movie I’ve seen or a show I watch and I will gladly tell you all about it. In fact, there are quite a few posts here that are specifically about movies that have meant something to me. (“The Devil Wears Prada” anyone?)

I will also happily discuss all things knitting and crocheting. Which is why I was so happy to go to Panera Bread this morning. Years ago there was a Saturday morning knitting group that met at Panera. We would order breakfast and then sit around and work on yarn projects while we chatted. Many of the ladies were military wives and ultimately moved away. This morning I got some of the OG members and some new people to join and now it’s going to be a regular Saturday morning thing again. I love it because while my husband listens patiently when I talk about projects, these are ladies who know what I’m talking about and are actively engaged in the yarn talk. I have an online group that I also am active in, but there’s something special about meeting in person.

I could also talk pretty extensively about my current job. There are so many different facets to what I do every day that I could definitely fill time with all the details. But it’s work, and I am trying hard to not talk about it so much when I’m not there.

Finally, I am finding that I’m starting to like to discuss writing. Since that is turning into a new passion for me, there’s much that I like to talk about. So far I’ve only talked about it with my husband and random people here and on Threads, but hopefully there will come a time when I’m paid to share my thoughts on it.

So there you have it, prompt creators…the things I like to discuss. How about throwing some questions in the mix that relate to any of that? I’ll be (im)patiently waiting.

    Love severance

    1. I feel kind of sorry for the people who watched that season 1 cliffhanger then had to wait 3 years for season 2! Apparently season 3 is already in the works so hopefully we don’t have to wait too long.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
