When do you feel most productive?

Productivity and the motivation to be productive really comes at random times for me. The weekends used to be the most productive time for me. When I was an educator, I powered through and got lesson plans written and papers graded. Since leaving that world, weekends have been about doing laundry and cleaning and just getting all the things done.

Lately though? There has been less and less productivity. My desire to do things that require less energy has been winning out. Haven’t gotten much laundry done lately. But that’s ok. Nobody is keeping track. I have clean clothes when I need them.

Of course, productivity can mean I’m accomplishing things related to hobbies and things I actually want to do, like writing. In that case, it’s usually anytime. I used to be the most inspired to write very late at night. But now, it’s whenever the mood or inspiration strikes. There are no longer certain times of the day or days of the week that are better for being productive. I just do what I want to do (or need to do) whenever I feel like it. That honestly feels like a privilege. And in a way, it kind of is.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
