My response to this prompt when it came up on this day last year is pretty much still 100% accurate, even a year later…

From 2024:

My #1 priority depends on what part of the day we’re talking about. From 8:00-5:00, my #1 priority is being at work and getting through my to-do list there. After work, my priority is being at home. I don’t know what that will entail…probably finding something to eat for dinner, taking the dog outside to play for a while, and doing something entertaining after that, like knitting on the couch while I watch t.v., which I do every night. If by priority, the intent is to identify something to do, I don’t really have a priority when I’m at home. My priority is to just BE at home. To separate myself from work and focus on the time to myself at home. Lately, I have found this to be very important for me “to do”, as it should be for us all.

It’s not very different in 2025. Now it’s two dogs that go outside to play. This week though, I do have a specific priority. I am two albums away from being caught up with Taylor Swift’s discography. I only have Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department left to go. I absolutely need to get caught up in time to listen to her new album before I go to the release party on Friday. Nothing like working on a deadline! I can do it though. Apple Music tells me that I have about three and a half hours of music to listen to between those two albums. Totally doable.

  1. I have been reading your journey aloud to my partner, who has been guiding me on my journey to becoming a Swiftie! I’ve always loved her music, but have never claimed the title of being one. I recently lost my job and am currently to hyper-fixating on this album. Lol. These posts have been a fun bonding experience for us. So, thank you!

I’ve been making Show Ghoul bracelets and would love to send one to you! (Dm on Threads if you want to! @hollydarling_ )

Also, I think you should also watch the Eras Tour before Friday!

    1. Literally gasped when I read your comment! Thank you for your kind words, but also thank you for offering a bracelet! I will for sure take you up on that.
I’m sorry about the job loss. Her music really does wonders for distracting the mind and also soothing parts of you that need soothing or just need an outlet. It’s a special kind of magic that she puts in her music for sure!

  2. You can totally be ready in time. I can’t wait to see what you think of the new album and what the watch party is like. Sounds fun.

    1. Oh I will for sure post about it.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
