Do you need time?

There are two ways that I can answer this question about time. Do I need it? I do and I don’t. I have written many, many times in my posts that I wish I had more time. The weekends aren’t long enough for me to do everything I have to do and everything I want to do. There isn’t enough time when I get home from work during the week to do what I want. I want to write, and knit, and damn it I’m thinking about running again.

The way he says this line in the movie, “Man on Fire”, lives rent free in my head. Just sayin’.

But if I interpret this question a certain way, I could take all of that and say I don’t need time. It didn’t ask if we need more time. I don’t actually need time per se. If time stopped right now, that would be fine. In the big picture, I am incredibly happy with my life right now. This era, this time in my life, is what I’ve always wanted for myself. I don’t want it to end. So, time can just go ahead and stop for me.

Now is not a good time for my husband though. He has about four more years until he retires and he hates his job. It’s agonizing for him to think of having to go four more years where he works. So time does need to move on so that he can get to the point in his life where he is as happy and free from a soul-crushing job like I was last year. I want us to experience life together where we are both just…happy.

Maybe once he retires time can stop again. Maybe by then I will have become a published author and can quit the job that takes up so much of my weekday time and he and I can enjoy endless time together. That would be really nice.

Want to help me enjoy retirement with my husband when it’s time? Buy me a coffee!

  1. Time is so strange. You guys just gained an hour and then 6 months from now you will lose it again. I never really thought about how pointless daylight savings is until I moved somewhere that doesn’t participate in it.

    1. It really is! And every year they bring it up in congress to talk about doing away with it and every year nothing really gets done about it.

      1. Hey, Hawaii and Arizona are fine without it, they need to take a clue from us.

      2. Absolutely!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
