It’s the day after Christmas. It’s also Flashback Friday. I have a wonderful app called Timehop that shows me what pictures I’ve taken and what I’ve posted on social media on this day each previous year.

Today when I scrolled through 15 years of December 26th memories, I noticed quite a few pictures like this:

And this:

I quickly noticed a pattern. The day after Christmas has traditionally been spent lounging at home working on knitting/crocheting projects or lounging and reading a book. I really think that’s the way it’s supposed to go the day after a holiday.

My favorite days during a holiday break are the ones after the day of cooking and feasting and revelry where Josh and I have gotten comfortable in our respective spots in the living room and watched movies or shows. I think it was 2 years ago I posted a lounging picture and mentioned how we binge-watched the first few episodes of that show “Chernobyl”. By the way, we never finished it because we needed a breather. That show is intensely dark! Of course it is, it’s about the Chernobyl disaster in the moments immediately before and after it happened. But I digress.

We haven’t done much lounging today. We had breakfast, which, was delicious by the way—it involved leftover breakfast casserole from yesterday and these amazing crepes that Josh made:

We then ran a couple of errands. The weather has cooled today so now that we’re back home, it’s the couch, pajama pants, and fuzzy socks. And a movie which remains to be decided.

May all of your “days after” be as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

  1. The perfect day. I was going to write a flash fiction, but decided to take a last Friday if the year break. Will be back fresh next year…aka next Friday, lol

    1. Absolutely take a break! I keep wanting to go one day without posting on here, but I have a streak going. If I make it to January 1st, I will have gone one whole year I think. I’m not breaking that streak now! Lol!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
