I feel better today. I had an appointment at 11:30 to get my forearm tattoo finished and as I was driving, I was reflecting on the day. Just today. I felt happy as I looked forward to being at home with Josh after my appointment. It was a short appointment, only about an hour and a half to finish the piece. Josh is working on the walls of our “study” and soon I’ll be doing laundry. Later tonight, I’ll sit on the couch with a crochet project. Or knit. I have both types of projects in progress.

I looked forward to all of that as I drove to the tattoo shop. It made me happy. That’s literally all I need in life right now. Work still sucks, and it gives me a twinge of anxiety to think about Monday and how badly I want any glimmer of hope that I can be hired somewhere else. Monday is back to work, but it’s also a day when I can potentially be called in for an interview somewhere else. I am practically salivating at the thought of quitting. But my home right now is what’s most important to me.

The past few days have been a serious test of my emotional balance. I’m entirely convinced most of it was hormonal, but also, a lot of it was my healed soul recognizing what it’s seen before. Recognizing that it’s time for a change. A minor one. I don’t see leaving my current job for something else as anything major. It’s still just a job. As long as I can pay my bills and have a little bit left over for perhaps future tattoos or great concert tickets or something else meaningful and worthwhile, I’m good.

Happy Saturday to all! My tattoo is finished and there will be a post about it once I take the bandage off and wash it.

  1. Can’t wait to see it and habe a great evening on the couch with your project, the dogs and your man.

    1. Thank you! I absolutely will!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
