Talk About it Tuesday
I am a chronic screenshot taker. I do a lot of scrolling on Facebook and Instagram and so I am perpetually taking a screenshot of quotes and memes and other things that I want to remember. I have quite the collection of motivational quotes. I think I’d like to start sharing them each week. Maybe I’ll make it “Screenshot Saturday”. Even though it’s Tuesday, here are two of the earliest ones I saved back in 2020.
I’d have to go back and look and see what part of 2020 I took these. Was it in the spring when everything was shut down and I was teaching from home? I suspect it was in the fall when our school reopened and the teachers were expected to teach kids in person and online simultaneously. The amount of prep work that was involved in pulling that off was exhausting. Spring break that year had me laying on my couch like the proverbial couch potato moving as little as possible for most of the days.
These quotes must have felt soothing to me at the time. And I think they’re relevant even now. With all that is happening in the world and the unease it has caused, it has certainly made day-to-day life challenging. But all we need to do is get through each day. What we do each day is enough. No matter what it is. Even if we didn’t do all that we wanted to. Or if we’re not sure about what we did do. It was enough. Because we are enough. Getting through it is also something to be proud of. We’re all out here just doing our best. The fact that we’re even trying and holding on, even if there’s not much holding us together, we’re still here. And in case no one has told you today, I’m proud of you.
