What a busy day! So as not to break my streak of daily posting, I’ll make this brief. I’ll pick up my mental health topic I had planned for today next week. I worked today but also had to step out for a moment to take my 19-year old kitty, Faye, to the vet unexpectedly. We are in a wait and see situation. As in, we’ll wait and see when it’s time for her to go in for the last time. I thought today might be that day with what was happening with her this morning. But, it’s not as bad as I thought. I got some new medicine for her that will hopefully prolong her comfort for a little longer. She has a follow up appointment on Monday afternoon. My day didn’t actually end until 8:00. My new job has many events and meetings that are held after 5 pm. Which, honestly, that’s ok because it’s part of the job and I can take those extra hours and flex my schedule with them instead of taking PTO. I also have to work all day on Saturday, so, this is going to be a long week.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to snuggle with my girl at night and hopefully make her keep feeling the love.

I’ve tried to capture the perfect picture of how she snuggles with me. There’s quite a variety as a result.

This is the most common position she takes.
Sometimes she comes in from the top.
And sometimes she just takes over my whole pillow.

I’m still mentally preparing for her inevitable end, but I’m also still glad I have a few more days with her. Possibly more.

  1. Peace and blessings to you. I know what it feels like to be waiting for that day when it comes.

May your sweet girl Faye have peaceful days ahead.

    1. Thank you so much! I’m mentally preparing as much as I can, but I know it’ll still be hard when the time comes.

  2. We used to have a cat that would try to sleep on my pillow at the top if ny head, lol. He was a silly one

    1. I swear this girl is the happiest when she’s on me somehow.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
