Talk About it Tuesday

I took my little kitty girl to the vet yesterday for a follow up appointment. She’s doing a little better than she was last week. Eight hundred dollars later and she has two new medicines pumped into her and I have an i.v. bag of fluids I have to hook her up to each day to pump some fluid into her because she’s very dehydrated. The vet said she doesn’t have another year, but she’s hoping she can give me another month or two with her. She is still alert and showing her usual personality. There is another follow up appointment scheduled for next week. But I’m honestly taking this day by day. The vet said if we feel it’s gotten to be too much, we just need to call them. I’m mentally preparing to call them in a few days. Or cancelling the appointment next week and continuing to take it day by day. While we can afford several hundred dollars a week for vet appointments, at what point do we say enough is enough?

My girl was snuggling hard with me last night and I was shedding a few tears. But then I thought of the most brilliant memorial tattoo for her and it made me feel better. Because people will look at this tattoo and think, “WTF is that about?!”. It’s going to be based on this scene:

My cat’s name is Faye. She was named after the actress pictured above, Faye Dunaway. When I brought Faye home on her very first day with us, she clung to the side of the kitty carrier and wailed the whole drive home. So dramatic! In thinking of the perfect name for her, I thought of the most dramatic actress I could think of. This scene from the movie “Mommie Dearest” came to mind. How much more dramatic can you get than the infamous “no wire hangers” scene?! So, my itty bitty tuxedo kitty with the big, dramatic voice was named Faye.

My remembrance tattoo of her is going to be a clothes hanger, and I haven’t decided if the black leg and white paw is going to be in the middle of the hanger or if it’s going to be holding the hanger. I also don’t know where I want to put it.

Just the thought of such a seemingly silly tattoo to remember my girl Faye makes her imminent passing a little easier to think about.

  1. What a great idea for a memorial tattoo and a great story about her name.

    1. She definitely lived up to that name for all her 19 years!

  2. “Taking it day by day” sounds like the best option. You’ll KNOW when you KNOW. Also, I love your idea or the memorial tattoo for Faye. 🙏🏽🩵

    1. I’m really hoping and praying that she does what my ginger boy did and just pass at home curled up asleep. That would be a lot easier than me having to decide and take her in.

  3. I’m so sorry about Faye 😔 but as you say it’s comforting to think of how you would memorialize her and that’s a perfect imagery of a hanger with the black leg and cat paw. 🐾 holding it

    1. Thank you. She’s doing much better today. The meds are definitely helping her. But, it’s still going to have to be day-by-day.

  4. put it above your heart… hugs

    1. I would but I already have my husband’s name there, lol!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
