This week’s screenshot was saved on July 3, 2021. The summer after Covid.

I saved it because that year, my online knitting group returned to holding our annual summer knitting “camp”. We couldn’t have it during 2020 because of Covid and the shutdown. But we came back with a vengeance the next year. If I remember correctly, the theme of our camp that year was “The one where they got out of quarantine”.
This screenshot captured what camp is like perfectly…we are a group of girlfriends (who knit/crochet) and we rent an Air BnB and there are quite a few snarky one liners and not necessarily late-night cheesecake, but there is always enough food to feed an army. Plenty of drinks and snacks for late nights.
When I saw this quote, I posted it in our group and then many of us actually bought muumuus to wear at camp. Here’s a picture of some of us in them.

This year, camp is outside of Chicago. Which would have been perfect for me to go to because one of my sisters lives in that area. However, since I just started my new job, I didn’t really feel comfortable putting in for two days off right away. Camp is towards the end of July. I’ll go next year though, for sure. The last camp I went to was in 2024 in Syracuse. We alternate coasts for the camp and so next year it’ll probably be on the west coast. I’ve never been to the west coast so that will definitely be a treat for me to go.
I still love my knitting friends. And spending 4 days with them all together like we do is definitely something special.
