Flashback Friday

Today I’m flashing back to June of 2021 when I took this picture:

And this screenshot:

“Hamilton” had come to Disney+ the summer before and in 2021, I was still obsessed with it. I took the couch picture with “Hamilton” on the tv in the background to send to a fellow teacher who was also a fan. It was to let her know that I was watching it yet again. I can’t remember if I took the screenshot of the crocheted version of Hamilton or if someone sent it to me. Either way, I entertained the thought of crocheting it. Maybe to give to my coworker. I never did make it.

I bring this up now because on Saturday, Josh and I have tickets to see “Hamilton” live in Durham. One of the traveling companies is going to be performing for a couple of weeks. Let me rephrase my original statement. I have tickets to see “Hamilton”. Josh secretly wants nothing to do with going to see it. He hasn’t seen it on Disney+ and refuses to watch it before we go. He is convinced he’s going to have a terrible time because he really doesn’t want to see it. But he loves me and he knows how much I love the show, so he agreed to go with me. Actually, let me rephrase that too. I know how much I love the show and I want to force him to experience it at least once. So I’m making him go with me so he has to sit through it. Want to place bets on whether or not he’s going to actually like it? He’s not opposed to musicals. He enjoys “The Greatest Showman” when it’s on and he likes the songs.

Whether he’s excited to see it or not is irrelevant. I’m excited. It’ll be weird to see it performed by people who aren’t the original cast, but I trust it’ll still be almost the same.

The whole evening is going to be nice. My former supervisor, the one at my old job who I really liked, she and her husband have tickets to the same show. So she invited Josh and I to have dinner with them before the show. She made reservations at a restaurant that she says is about a 4-minute walk to the theater. She said 4 minutes, plus the wait for the elevator because apparently this is a roof-top restaurant which sounds really cool! I’m looking forward to catching up with her and enjoying a meal together.

I am 100% sure my “Something Good” Sunday post will be a recap of the evening. So stay tuned…

  1. That sounds really fun! I still have not seen Hamilton. I should at least watch it on TV. Hope y’all have the best time!

    1. Thank you! Yes, you definitely need to see it at least once! So worth it!

  2. Have a great time! Tell Josh I resisted it as well, convinced it was going to be dumb UNTIL you added it to my Tuesdays are for Tunes list this year and I watched a bootleg production on YouTube and fell in love. Now I might need to get Disney+ so I can see how they wanted me to see it. Lol. oh and how cute would a knit version of the king be? Jonathan Groff as the king is my favorite

    1. I will certainly tell him, lol! And I am SO sure there’s a pattern for him. 😃

  3. The crochet is adorable xx

    1. It really is! I’m kind of tempted to actually make it now.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
