Daily writing prompt
Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?

I speak English, and I could wax poetically about how it impacted my life because I love reading, I love writing, and I’m using the skills I have with the English language to be a published writer, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. There are writers and teachers that speak all the other languages, not just English. The fact that I was an English teacher isn’t influenced by the fact that I speak the language. Students in other countries with different languages also take classes where they have to read stories and books and complete writing assignments in their native language. It’s not something unique to English speaking students.

I could have been born in any other country and speak any other language than English and I think I would have still been a person who loves reading and loves writing. That’s just who I am. The language I speak did not influence that.

  1. I hear you. I admire those people in other countries that learn their own language then have to learn English and then another language on top of that. It is impressive.

    1. It really is!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
