I was going to let today be the day I break my posting streak, but I just can’t. So let me just say, I finished Bob Odenkirk’s book this morning and have since started Pride & Prejudice. There are two things I have to say about this book so far:

1–For years, and I mean years I thought that Kathleen Kelly in “You’ve Got Mail” was wrong and none of the words she always gets “lost in” are not actually in the book. Apparently I just wasn’t paying enough attention when I read it for the first time over 20 years ago. I’m on chapter 6 or so and I have already come across the word ‘felicity’. I have not yet found ‘thither’ or ‘mischance’.

And,

2–Dear Reader, I kind of really like this book so far. The dad is comic relief and I think I’m going to enjoy the battle of wits that has already started between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. I don’t remember the ending, but I may very well be in “agony over whether Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are really going to get together”, as Kathleen Kelly also said.

We’ll see.

  1. You’re inspiring me to read Pride and Prejudice. I consider myself a pretty voracious reader, but I have never made it through this one. Perhaps I will try again… eventually.😂

    1. I’m only about 6 or 7 chapters in so I may not make it to the end but I’m going to try. It’s kind of like a romance in today’s world. There’s the familiar will they/won’t they element to it. Women probably ate this up back when it was published, lol!

  2. See, I was right about the dad, lol. Maybe if you can make it through it and still like it at the end I will give it another chance. Happy reading.

    1. Thanks! We’ll see how it goes. I’m not above not finishing it, but so far so good.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
