What’s one habit that has improved your life the most?
I almost forgot to post today which would be a bummer because I think the one habit that I have now is blogging daily. I don’t really have any other habits. I recently quit the gym because I gave up on running (it was a lot harder now that I’m older).
Depending on how often something has to happen for it to be considered a habit, I could also add therapy to my habit list. That has definitely been something that has greatly improved my life.
Journaling is something do at least once a week, just to check in with myself, and I know that has helped me. In fact, that’s a hill I’m willing to die on…that journaling helps your mental health.
Back to my original idea about blogging…I have recently given up on social media. At least until after my writing class so that I can determine what I want to do with my accounts. If I don’t need them for the purposes of getting published, I will be happy to stay in the background and let people wonder about me. Blogging is different though. It’s writing. It’s writing in my voice and it’s about whatever I want it to be. The improvement it has made in my life is evident in the fact that I just really like writing and sharing my ideas, be they funny and weird or serious and thought-provoking. It’s something to look forward to each day. Now that therapy helped me find my voice and use it without fear, my blog is the space and opportunity for me to use it however I want to. I’m good with that.
I’m not disappointed in myself that I gave up on running, but I think I would definitely be upset if I stopped writing.
