What’s your home decoration style?
I don’t have a particular style to my home. Nothing that has an official name. I simply like a lot of color, which is difficult because Josh thinks everything should be a neutral color. Blegh! Our bedroom, for example, has beige walls. And beige curtains. I would have liked a much more vibrant color, but to compromise, Josh bought prints of several colorful flower pictures and frames to put them in and hung them above our bed.

To be fair, when picking out a color for our office/creative space, we went with blue and the shade that we picked most definitely was not the shade that we got in the can. It was quite a deep blue, and you know what? I love it! Our old apartment had a beach theme in the living room and we kept all of the wall decorations. We had space to put some of them up in the room.

We haven’t painted the other rooms in our house that need painting. We’ll get there eventually. But in the meantime, I interject color where I can. I’m particularly happy with decorating our mantle. This is what I did with it around Easter:

Our dining room is always fun to decorate too. We have a huge arrangement for every season. These are our summer/anniversary flowers since pink and orange were our wedding colors.

I love our set in bookshelves for the purposes of putting knick-knacks on:

Look, if I had my way, my home decoration style would be a lot more colorful, a lot more whimsical, and I guarantee there would be at least one beaded curtain somewhere. But since Josh lives here too, I’m content to keeping most of my whimsical stuff in our back room/creative space. That’s where my lava lamp is and my pink pom poms and all my little hand-knit critters and all the other tacky, but fun stuff.
Basically, I’m a grown up, but it doesn’t mean I have to decorate like one.
