Flashback Friday
Today’s prompt is yet another one about books–fictional characters or something. I’m exhausted with the book prompts. So, let me revert to a Flashback Friday kind of post. This one is based on the prompt earlier this week that asked about our home decoration style. I mentioned in my post that our old apartment had a beach theme. I found pictures back in the top of my camera roll on my phone. These pictures were taken in July of 2021. Five years is not really a long time. And yet, it feels like an entire lifetime ago. Everything in my life changed when we moved out of that apartment. The time there was before I got pregnant. I had already started the grad school application process and finished it not long after we moved into our house. Of course, everything that came with grad school happened after leaving this apartment. So given all that has happened and changed since we lived there, it definitely feels longer than 5 years that we lived there.
There were definitely lots of happy memories there. And I really enjoyed that apartment. I loved our beach theme in the living room and am glad we kept all of the decorations. We didn’t have space for all of them in our rennovated office/creative space, but perhaps when we clear out the large room at the very back of our house and move our living room there, we’ll be able to hang the rest of it. I will also say, that our current couch and love seat are very similar to the ones in these pictures, but that chair…oh how I miss that chair. But we gave it away when we moved into this house because we didn’t have room to store it when we initially moved in. There is still quite a bit of my mother-in-law’s stuff here and we had to give away or donate a lot of the larger pieces of furniture we had–like our white cube shelves because there was nowhere to put it all. I really do miss that chair. It was the reason we went with a beach theme for our living room. The ottoman had that same print to it and combined with the tan color of the couch and love seat, it felt very tropical.
So with all of that said, here is the living room where we spent most of our time at our old apartment:

Side note: The picture of the lighthouse on the shelf above the t.v. was painted by Josh’s grandfather.

Also, if I remember correctly, there were two other pieces that we hung over the sliding door. One was a sea turtle and the other was in a similar style and was a seahorse. In fact, I think that’s what our original collection started with.
All of this talk of decorating makes me want to organize something. I think this weekend I’ll get into that creative space of ours and organize my knitting supplies. They’re a mess right now. Stuff like that makes my heart happy.
