Talk About it Tuesday
I don’t have much to talk about today. However, I was at work and I thought I’d share the fun and whimsy that I have on my desk.
Much of my job right now is reviewing potential student applications. Each application involves quite a bit of reading and analyzing. It takes me about 15-20 minutes to get through a single application. There are currently 200 or so applications in my particular queue. It’s not the most fun, especially considering what the students write is very similar.
So, to break up the monotony of reading all of this, I have some fidget type things. Not all of them are toys.

The yellow oozy liquid thing is good for staring at. The blue crystal is a palm stone and can be held in my hand and rubbed. The two smaller crystals are worry stones and have divets in them. Those also make for good rubbing. Then there’s the good ole’ fidget spinner. Two others that are slightly different in size and shape are in my desk drawer. This one also has those pop button things.
I most recently added the liquid game in the back. If you are a child of the 80s or 90s, surely you remember those water games where you push the button and try to hook the rings onto the post. I found this one at Barnes & Noble during our weekly trip on Sunday. There was no question that I had to buy it.

Is my desk the most professional looking in the building? No. But is it fun and whimsical and helps me get through the endess list of applications I have to review? Yes.
