“Something Good” Sunday

Tomorrow I have to work until 9pm. We’re in our busy season. There’s at least one of these Mondays every month through January. My supervisor told us to come in late tomorrow to make up for it. She also asked us what kind of snacks we would like. She’s going to stock us up with snacks for these late nights. The last event like this didn’t go well, so we’re trying to learn from our mistakes and make tomorrow go much more smoothly. I’m not letting myself feel anxiety about it. Because I know that even if mistakes are made, I will not be criticized severely and bluntly by my boss. It’ll be o.k. This is a learning process.

But it’s still going to be a long day tomorrow so I wanted to take it easy today. Josh and I ran our usual errands this morning. After breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, we went to PetSmart to stock up on canned dog and cat food for the week. He went to two different sporting goods stores, and then we ultimately wound up at Target. Don’t come at me. I fully support the boycott of Target, but the quality of what we were specifically looking for just wouldn’t be the same if we went to Walmart. Josh is thinking he has another kidney stone. Last time he had one, it hurt him to lay in our bed. Despite it having a built-in memory foam mattress topper, we bought an extra one. It’s 2 inches high and came with a cover that’s supposed to be “cooling”. I put it on our bed and then spent the afternoon watching “Working Girl” thanks to a fellow blogger referencing it in a post this week.

I propped myself up in bed and worked on finishing the knit t-shirt I’m making.

Nugget was very interested in what I was doing. If she wasn’t chewing on the drawstring of my project bag, she was crawling onto my chest to try and lay. She used to do that with Josh before we had dogs. She wasn’t happy when I shook her off. She meowed angrily at me and swatted at my arm several times before ultimately giving up and trying again five minutes later.

I did, however, sort of finish the t-shirt. All I have left to do is weave in all the ends and then knit the collar around the neck and the ends of the sleeves. I tried it on and I’m delighted that it fits well. It’s baggy like a real t-shirt and while I can look at it and see at least a dozen things wrong with it and ways that I messed up on the pattern, I’m still happy with it.

And that’s what’s good about today. I spent a big chunk of the day relaxing in front of the fan and knitting. FYI—Josh was in our shared hobby room at the back of the house winding fishing line onto his reels while watching his favorite comfort movie, “Predator”.
