Flashback Friday

I’m wearing a grey tunic type shirt today. I used to have the same shirt but in orange because orange is my favorite color. I got these shirts for Christmas one year. Can’t remember if they came from Josh or his mom. I’ve had them a while.

I can’t wear the orange one anymore. In fact, I think I gave it away in a pile of clothes I donated to the Salvation Army or offered for free on NextDoor.

I had no choice. I had to give it away. One time, when I was a teacher, I wore the orange tunic to work. I had also blow dried my hair that morning because it was winter and I still believed that old wives’ tale about getting sick if you go out into the cold air with wet hair.

Apparently, the combination of the job I did on my hair, my thick brown glasses, and the orange tunic made my middle school students see a strong resemblance between me and Velma from Scooby Doo.

They weren’t wrong.

  1. Yep, I see it and I have to tell you I have had the same thing happen to me. My hair, my glasses at the time…all of it. I feel you.

    1. Apparently she was the best character on that show, but I don’t remember and I don’t think they meant it as a compliment, lol!

      1. She was the smartest one on the show for sure. I don’t know if it is so much dig to be mean or just a little teasing. I never thought of it as mean.

      2. Oh for sure. I think it was just teasing. Like how they always called me a boomer no matter how many times I tried to explain generations.

      3. I think I hate that more than anything. No, no…not a boomer.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
