Today is a long day at work. I’ll be here until 8:30 or so. Which is ok, I have a great team that makes the time go by fast. I don’t mind being here with them. Plus, working beyond my normal schedule gives me flex time I can use later instead of using my PTO. My supervisor insists on it.

So in the absence of time to write a fairly detailed, lengthy post, here’s a pictorial representation of my day yesterday. It was quite eventful.

First thing in the morning, really, around noon time, a tornado came through my city. Our house was in the warned path, but very little happened exactly where our house is. A couple miles down the road though is a different story.

Ethan and I snuggled through it:

In between loads of laundry…washing, drying, folding, and putting away, I obsessively read my current book. I had paused reading it while I knocked out Ray Bradbury’s book, but I came back to it and am now just a couple chapters away from being finished.

This was written as a chapter for chapter modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield. I haven’t read that, but this story is really good. It’s a thick book though, so I will read a short one after this before I dive into Stephen King’s It.

Finally, the day concluded with a bowl of Josh’s chili. He also made corn muffins to go with them and served it all with tortilla chips. I’m used to saltine crackers with chili, but tortilla chips are a game changer!

A good conclusion to the weekend leading into today, which has been a good start to the week.

Happy Monday friends!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
