One time I saw a meme that conveyed the idea that the Olympics are great and everything, but what would make them better is a visual of what it looks like for the average person to try and do these different events. It was a funny meme and I definitely agreed with it. But now, I really think that should be a thing. I was watching the Olympic track and field trials the other night and I was watching the 100 meter race. The women averaged somewhere between 10 and 11 seconds completing that distance and the men were somewhere between 9 and 10. As I watched, it looked to me that 100 meters is not that far of a distance. I’ll bet I could run it pretty fast. I do consider myself a runner and I’ve got some pretty muscular legs. Now, I’m not saying I’m as fast as an Olympian. I certainly don’t have the physique of one, but it got me genuinely curious about how long it would take me to run that distance. How long would it take one of the people from the local running club in my area? I’ve lately been trying to increase my speed when I run, but I haven’t been running as fast as I can. Those Olympic contenders definitely put it all out there. They are running like their life depends on it. I get it. They’ve probably been training for that moment for most of their lives. But I still wonder, what would it look like for us regular people to do those things? And if anyone answers that question, can you please make a video of it and post it online so we can all satisfy our curiosity?

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
