Afternoon thunderstorms…finally! Living in the southeast part of the United States is not very pleasant during the summer months if you don’t like heat, which I don’t. I could make the classic argument that it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity. But when you’re under an excessive heat warning with the heat index at 108…it is the heat and the humidity. That’s where we are today, in addition to not having had much rain for the past month, leading to an official drought status. But thankfully, there are good chances of thunderstorms for my area today. Usually there are pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon anyway, but not lately. I love thunderstorms, when they’re not too severe and don’t leave damage behind. There’s not a good explanation for why I like them, I just do. They put me in a good mood and I look forward to them when I know they’re in the forecast. With the thunderstorms on the way today, there is going to be a drop in the temperature for tomorrow, meaning my husband and I might actually feel like going outside and doing some work in the yard. And our dog will go with us and not wilt under the cover of our grill where it’s shady and cooler than out in the direct sun. At this point in the day, the radar on my weather app shows a strong line of red marching towards the dot that indicates my city and the light in the living room has faded enough for me to almost need to turn on the lamp. And for that, I am happy.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
