Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
The thing about myself in 10 years is that I have no idea what that’s going to look like. About four years ago, my life was a certain way. If I had been asked this question then, I am certain that what my life is like now is not what I would have said. The amount of changes that have happened in that time is astounding. So to project what life will be like for me in the future, I have no idea. Certainly there are goals that I have. I’d love to have a book published by then and have a sizeable following for my writing. But honestly, right now, this moment in my life is perfect for me. I am in love with this journey of figuring out who I am. Each day is different in how I feel, what my attitude is, what I feel like doing. There are certainly thoughts and feelings that I cycle through and periods of things that I focus on doing, but it’s not always the same. Right now I’m looking forward to the summer because my job is going to be very busy in the summer and I’ve never experienced a hard-working summer like that. I’m curious what that will be like.
I’m truly taking this life of mine one day, one season at a time. Life on the other side of my old career is…exhilarating. The journey I’m on to heal past traumas is enlightening and refreshing. Each therapy session feels like I’m one step closer to completely being who I’m supposed to be. Hopefully in ten years that particular journey will be complete. I don’t even know what I will look and feel like when that happens. But I’m eager to find out.
While I can’t predict what I will be like on the other side of this journey, I do hope this ride into the future is a long one. I’m loving all the stops and sight-seeing along the way.
Bottom line, to sum up how I see myself in 10 years, I can simply say, I see myself happy and healed. I’ve already got a pretty good start on it too.
