No answer to the daily prompt today, so hopefully it’s not a good question that I would have had a really good answer for. It’s the day that I will sit in a chair for 6-8 hours while a talented color artist tattoos some amazing flowers on my arm. I’m excited! I have a bag that I packed with snacks and a book to read. I’m worried about my blood sugar getting low and how that will affect me while I endure being repeatedly stabbed with a needle.

In honor of the fact that I am getting this tattoo as a final ‘F-you’ to the school where I worked (and was traumatized) for 19 years, I am wearing an outfit that is similar to the uniforms the middle schoolers wore. This is symbolic given that I feel as free spirited as the students did when they graduated every year and were finally free of the control we had over them and how they looked. Some of them came back to visit with blue hair, I’m getting blue tattooed on my body. When it wasn’t a P.E. day, or a Mass day, or even the monthly spirit day, the students had to wear a navy blue polo shirt with the school logo, and khaki pants. I am wearing a navy blue camisole and khaki yoga pants. It tickles me.

My mirror is dirty, my shirt is not. Just sayin’.

See you on Sunday…

  1. Woot! Woot! Happy Tattoo Day! I hope you will have an amazing adventure, and that you’ll endure the trial of getting the artwok done splendidly!

    1. Thank you! I’m back home and it’s fabulous! What he did today is finished, but I’ll be going back in a few weeks for him to design and do the rest.

  2. Yay tattoo day!!! Have fun!!!

    1. And fun I had! Well, until the 4th hour and after the third break when it started hurting more than at the beginning and I started to get a little restless.

  3. I understand. Haven’t had one last that long. I don’t think I could be in one place that long even with breaks

    1. He said for the rest of it, we can either power through and do it all at once or he can do the outline and I can come back a third time for the coloring in. Today he covered up the band with two very blue symmetrical flowers.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
