How do you express your gratitude?

Words are powerful. So the way that I usually express my gratitude is simply by saying thank you. That applies to most people to whom I’m grateful. Many times there is an actual thank you card. I will not let the written word and all the accompanying stationary and pretty pens and stickers become obsolete. Being the knitter/crocheter that I am too, I will sometimes make something for someone. Like the spray paint can I crocheted for my tattoo artist.

However, if I’m wanting to let my husband know that I appreciate him, I let him know in other ways. It might be as simple as just being truly present when I’m with him. I’m grateful for his presence, so I show him by just being present. Or I’ll go out of my way to make sure the dishes are washed so it’s one less annoying thing to come home to after he’s worked all day. It’s the little things. Maybe it’s cooking him his favorite dinner. Or scratching his back. Those are probably getting into the territory of love languages, but being grateful for his love feels the same as showing my love.

Throughout my life I’ve learned that gratitude is important and I’ve also learned that there’s many ways to show it. Honestly, I show it in whatever way feels the most appropriate and right for the person and situation. Truly no right or wrong way, as long as you show it somehow.

  1. Yep, it can be different for everybody, but a cute note with multicolored pens and stickers are always a good idea.

    1. Absolutely! Pens and stickers are a love language all on their own!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
