What are you most excited about for the future?
I don’t have big plans for the future anymore. Well, I mean one day I’d like to be a published author (that gets paid). And I am pretty excited about that possibility. But in the short term, I’m most excited about this Friday. True, it’s my birthday and I was told by my supervisor to be done with my work by 1:00. This was after she asked about any dietary restrictions I might have. Friday is going to be amazing for me though because that means it’s the day after my “Intro to Crocheting” class ends. Circumstances beyond my control have me teaching another kids class this week. Two weeks ago it was “Intro to Knitting” and while the class itself went by fast and the kids were great, I had to sacrifice 3 hours for 4 days during the week when I had a TON of other stuff I needed to get done. Same goes for this week. My to-do list keeps growing because I have no time to get it all done with the class I’m teaching. I will be very excited to be done with it, no other classes for me to teach on the horizon, so I can go back to being productive and not have to stay after 5:00 to get a tiny bit done. I don’t like the feeling of not being able to get things done as quickly as I’m used to.
With that said, I’m also excited about the end of the summer. Come August 14th, this program will be done for the year and I will be able to actually take some time off and not worry about so much to do at work.
When the summer ends, there’s the fall to look forward to. Standing outside for 30 minutes at a time, multiple times a day to coordinate the pick-up and drop-off of students means I’m eager for cooler temperatures. The return of football season and the Friday Night Lights on the high school field behind my house. Just the change in seasons in general. I’m absolutely gobsmacked at how fast this year has already gone by. One day after the end of this program in August will be the one-year anniversary of me working at this “new” job. Initially, my coworkers told me it takes about a year to really get the hang of the processes and procedures we use in our department. Well, it’s been a year and I mostly have the hang of it now.
Other than the immediate future, I do have other things I’m excited about. Actually, quite a few…I’m close to paying off one of my biggest credit accounts. Pretty eager to do that.
I’m mulling around ideas for my next tattoo session. Going to get my long faded goldfish touched up so he looks like a fish again, along with some colorful background scenery for him. I’ve done the powerful and meaningful tattoo, now I want something whimsical.
My husband and I are planning a vacation for the fall. Can’t wait to see what it’s like to take time off in that season, rather than always in the summer.
August is also when the winners of a writing contest I entered will be announced. It’s a national contest and I don’t think I really have a big chance of winning, but I did enter and so there is an actual chance.
I think most of all though, I’m just excited about the random little things coming up that are making my heart happy. I’ve come to realize lately that it’s important to have something to look forward to. Even if it’s just thinking about coming home and laying on the couch in front of the fan after work while I’m standing in the parking lot in the blazing sun with sweat going so far down my back my underwear is affected.
Speaking of which, my new couch covers came today and I’m looking forward to draping them on the furniture and seeing if they are as luxurious as the reviews on Amazon said they are. Until later…
