How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?
What an interesting question today. We described ourselves in general recently. Now we have to do it without someone seeing us? Well, my description last time is pretty relevant to this given that I don’t think I used sight-based traits in my description.
For this one, I guess I could say I smell good? Not necessarily true though. I recently discovered that something about me has changed and made my deodorant not as effective as it used to be. Put me outside in Satan’s armpit multiple times a day and Dove “Advanced Care” stops being so advanced. So maybe don’t smell me at the end of the day. I am currently taking recommendations for a new armpit refresher, aka, deodorant.
How about how I sound? One of my besties in high school said I was her loudest friend. That description was based entirely on my laugh. Nothing about my laugh is quiet. Well, not until I get to that level of laughter when I can barely breathe and stop making any sound at all because I’m fighting for my life.
If we’re talking about a blind person, my next thing would be to say, how I feel. But since blind people sometimes can “see” by touching, I would first say, don’t touch me. Maybe that feeling would be an emotional kind of feeling. Remember one of my teachable moments where I talked about the boy who could see auras? And he said the air was always clear and white when I was around? Maybe auras can be felt as well as seen? I would hope that my aura continues to be one of clarity and calmness. Hopefully I make people feel good being around me. I know that just being around my husband makes me feel peaceful and safe. He doesn’t have to say anything. And I don’t even have to be in the room with him, just knowing he’s home and around here somewhere makes me feel good. Maybe comfortable is a good word to describe me if you’re in my presence but can’t see me. At least, I hope that’s how I make people feel.
Put together my summer “musk” scent, my non-indoor voice laugh, and the positive vibes I put out and you get me. I’m just a cool chick.
