Daily writing prompt
How do you relax?

How do I relax? We’ve been over this. Many times. The magnolia tree in my backyard? My favorite spot on the couch? Knitting? Crocheting? Any of that ring a bell there WordPress-daily-prompt-creator person? All snarkiness aside, I really have explained this quite a bit. When thinking about my answer to this today, I was about to describe the beach my husband and I go to. There’s not a lot of people there and so we spend the day reclined in our beach chairs, either reading or napping, and occasionally walking to the water to wade in and cool off.

However, I thought of something else. Frank’s question to Joe Fox in this clip from “You’ve Got Mail” is echoing in my head.

“How do you sleep at night?” Truthfully, I have an answer like Patricia. I don’t take ultradorm, but I do take Trazodone. That’s some good stuff. But back to the question, how do I sleep?

I sleep well, or to tie it into the prompt, relax, knowing that I’m winning at life.

I finally have a job that doesn’t suck the life out of me or give me intense anxiety on a regular basis.

I have divorced myself from the enemies of my old job and am doing a damn fine job of healing from the battle scars.

I am using my voice how I want to use it.

I’m a writer.

I cut myself off from my parents and am loving the lack of contact.

I have a husband who loves me and supports me.

I have money for tattoos.

I have a home that makes me feel safe in all the ways you can feel safe, physically and emotionally.

That’s how I sleep at night. That’s how I relax. #winning

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
