What’s your favorite word?

I’m going to contradict myself on this one today. Recently the prompt asked us about a word we would give up. I wrote about giving up the F word. My logic was that Taylor Swift doesn’t use words like that to destroy people with her lyrics, so as a writer, maybe I didn’t need to use it either. Wouldn’t you know that not long after I posted that, I got to the infamous song “All Too Well”. The 10-minute version of the song features the line “fuck the patriarchy”. Alright now! I don’t feel so compelled to censor myself anymore.

With that said, I proclaim that right now, my favorite word—the F one—is tied for first place with goddamn. Honestly, GD hasn’t been used as much prior to these most recent months. It’s that whole taking the Lord’s name in vain thing. But for me, it has the same punch as the F word. I have been using them interchangeably lately.

I also think favorite words come and go. These two are my favorite ones right now because they reflect my attitude about a lot of things. My mentality has been one of “I don’t care” and “Don’t mess with me”.

I don’t know how long this mindset of mine will last. Maybe it’s just part of my personality now. Only time will tell. While I wait to find out, I will continue to sprinkle those foul words liberally throughout my daily speech.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
