Daily writing prompt
What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

This is the same question that came up on October 24th last year. My answer back then is still pretty spot on. Daily Prompt Response—Alternative Career Path.

Even though I still maintain that the worst day at my not-so-new-anymore job is better than any random day at my old job, I have gotten a bit of career wanderlust lately. I talked about this recently too. I want to be a writer. There’s a whole internet full of people who insist that I already am a writer. I write on this blog, I’m a writer. I get that. But I can’t pay my tattoo artist on how many people like my posts. Though I am super grateful to all of you dear readers who read my ramblings and click ‘like’ as many times as you do. I just want to get to a point where I’m a writer who gets paid for what I write.

And while that’s the goal because having an income is what keeps me housed, fed, and living comfortably, I think being paid for my writing would be amazing because that means I’ve written something good enough to deserve someone paying for it. How cool would that be?!

I’ll get there one day. Little by little I’m working my way there. Until then…

Want to help me accomplish my dream of being a paid writer? Buy me a coffee!

  1. Most days, I haven’t given up on sustaining financially off my writing, but I’ve been at this long enough to know the industry in which we long to be held high has changed so much, I barely recognize it. *Sighs* I hope you achieve your goal.

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, but just getting something for what I write would be very validating.

      1. I totally understand. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

  2. I hear with the being paid part. It will come for both of us…

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
