Name Your 3 biggest pet peeves.
In no particular order, I absolutely cannot stand:
- Drivers who go miles down a road with their turn signal on without ever turning.
- People who say ‘woman’ when they clearly mean ‘women’. Working in a Catholic school where the rosary was prayed the first Thursday of every month before Mass, there were very few kids who would lead the school in the prayers and actually get correct that Mary was “blessed art though among women” and not “woman”. When I became the principal, I insisted that the teachers who prepped their kids on how to lead the rosary made sure they got the pronunciation correct. It still didn’t work most of the time.
- People who “reply all” unnecessarily. It drove me crazy when I was a teacher and the principal would send out emails to the whole faculty. When I became a principal, I never knew who was replying all because everyone was replying to me anyway. Funny thing is, I reply all at work now, sometimes. I have to send emails to the same 5 people to request a change to a class schedule. When one of the 5 people replies all and says the change has been made, I reply all to say “thank you” because I want everybody to know that I am polite with my requests. I have since been called out for the replying all by one of the OG 5 on the emails and I have stopped replying all. It can be done!
However, since it’s Thanksgiving week, I’m going to counteract my list of 3 negative, annoying things, by posting 3 things that I love and that I’m thankful for.
Again, in no particular order:
- When Ethan snuggles under the blanket with me on the couch.
- Thick, warm, fuzzy socks and fuzzy pajama pants on a cold day.
- That first sip of a cold Starbucks refresher drink when you’re really thirsty and it’s warm outside. (It was unseasonably warm on Saturday when my husband and I were out running errands. A grocery store with a Starbucks in it was our last stop and that strawberry açaí refresher with lemonade absolutely hit the spot).
- And I’m throwing a 4th one on here so that there’s more positive than negative… Getting super engrossed in a good book. I’m about to finish the book of short stories by Tom Hanks that I’ve been reading. I’m going to pick a fiction book next that I think will have a good story. I’ve got one in mind that I’ve heard really good things about.
