What’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? Why?
Because I’m pretty sure I’ve answered this question, and if I haven’t, I think it’s easy to guess what my answer would be…the hardest decision was to quit my job. Why? Because I had worked there for 19 years.
Substitute the word “hard” for “sad” in this meme:

I’m going to now substitute the word “easiest” for the word “hardest” in the prompt question. The easiest decision, today anyway, is to get another tattoo. I have an all-day tattoo appointment today to have a journal-inspired piece done on my left forearm. I think after that, my left arm will be done. Except for a few spots on the inside of my bicep, there won’t be any room left.
Tattoos this year have been an easy decision. I’ve waxed poetically about them in a previous post. I can’t quite explain why I feel the need to fill up my arms with ink…perhaps because I’ve always thought women with full arm tattoos were beautiful and awesome and now that I’m experiencing a new version of myself, I can do that for my arms too? Do the tattoos match the new self-confidence I feel? Because when I go out in public and my arms are exposed I feel different, more bad ass and beautiful? All of that could be true. I just know that, as much as I love the crocheted flowers all down my right arm, I feel something weird when I see my bare left forearm.
That arm was the one that I always used during my self-harm days. It took me a little bit to think of what I wanted to put there since that is a deeply personal area of my body. Initially, I thought about putting things that make me happy. But now, with what I’m getting today, it’s all symbolic of what helped me heal from the days of self-harm. Lots of symbolism to what I’m getting. I’ll definitely share it when it’s done. In the meantime, I have to go pack a bag with snacks, a drink, a book, and a pillow for my tailbone. This is going to be the longest session and I’m desperately going to try not to tap out. I definitely want it all done in one go. Wish me luck!
