It’s Sunday. As such, I usually have something posted a lot earlier in the day than almost 6:00 pm. But despite a series of days where my mood was cheerful and playful and chatty, I have run into a day where I’m just not. It happens. I woke up with an intense headache that I think was connected to the weird sinus pressure I’ve been having in one of my ears. Because of that, and because I’m sure there is something hormone related running amok in my body too, I just did not feel like being talkative. Either with my husband or in writing.
As the day has gone on, I finally came up with something good, as is my new Sunday tradition to write about. The ‘something good’ this week may be controversial, especially to those who get hard core into the Christmas season. But for me, in this very moment, I’m a little glad that Christmas is over. Only for the simple reason that I really want to listen to regular music again. I love Christmas music and since I will only listen to it during December, I have felt compelled to only listen to Christmas music the past few weeks. It only comes once a year, didn’t want to miss my chance to listen to my favorite holiday songs, over and over.
During this time, I also came across several songs that I really love and had forgotten about or that are new to me that I want to listen to several more times. I added them to my “random awesomeness” playlist. But I haven’t actually listened to that playlist this month so I can hear these new additions.
However, now that Christmas is over, I have put that playlist on the couple of times I have run to the store this weekend. I turned the volume up as loud as I could stand and really had a good time on my short errand runs.
Tomorrow, I’m driving solo for 2.5 to 3 hours to go to Ikea to pick up the shelves we are getting to go in our office/library/spare room. Josh has to work tomorrow so it’ll just be me going. Which I’m looking forward to. It’ll be a one woman concert experience. At least on one part of the drive. On the other part, it’ll be a one woman theater performance as the Hamilton soundtrack is probably exactly the right length for one leg of the drive.
I’ll just have to watch my speed. The last time I listened to Hamilton on a road trip, I got a little too into “Right Hand Man” and my driving speed matched the energy I put into singing along. Needless to say, I got pulled over and given a speeding ticket. Still good road trip music though. And I’m definitely looking forward to it tomorrow.
