Movie/music Monday
I come to you today with another Ryan Gosling movie. What can I say? He’s one of my favorites. And actually, so is Steve Carell. Since it was Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Josh and I watched “Crazy, Stupid, Love” on Friday night. I’ve seen it a few times and it is just a super good movie. Seriously, I’m a writer and “super good” is the best I can come up with right now. If you haven’t seen it, just know that these popular gifs all come from it:

The movie has a lot of heart. And comedy that is, I don’t know, classy? Might not be the right word. It’s raunchy, but not Kevin Smith level raunchy.
This came out in 2011 so I’m almost certain it has been seen by many. I would argue it is one of Ryan Gosling’s best movies. Or at least, it’s one of my favorites of his. It reminded me that he uses the word “schronze” in many of his movies.
Steve Carell’s role is also very endearing in it. I have always enjoyed him in movies. I don’t think I have seen a bad one. Except for “Dinner with Schmucks”. As I recall we didn’t even finish that one.
There’s nothing particularly meaningful or insightful that I have to say about “Crazy, Stupid, Love” today. But because it’s Monday and I’ve devoted the day to movies and/or music, this is what came to mind. It popped up on the recommendations list on Amazon Prime when we signed in on Friday. Given that it was Valentine’s Day weekend, it was a perfect movie to watch. Granted, the only successful couple in the movie is Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, but, there’s still a lighthearted, happy ending. Or at least, a hopeful ending.
If you’ve made it to 2026 without having seen it, please check it out. It’s worth at least one watch. If for no other reason than to see the above gifs in their natural habitat.
