“Something Good” Sunday
I waited until a little later in the day to post my “something good” for the week because we’re currently working on the good. My husband declared the spare room as finished as it’s going to get. He’s not happy with the quality of the painter’s tape he used. There was some bleed through of the ceiling paint onto the walls and vice versa. He began the day thinking he was going to touch it up and perhaps add a second coat to the trim. But given the clutter we have endured for the past two months because of this project, we are both ready to be done. So, although he says it doesn’t look professional, we pulled the tape off the walls, the plastic and paper off the floor, and the plastic off the bookshelves. We went to Lowe’s after Mass this morning and came home with new blinds and a new rug. The floor has been vacuumed and mopped. The blinds have been hung. And so has the wall shelf that hangs just below the ceiling and runs the length of the wall. I store my photo albums, scrapbooks, and picture boxes up there. There are enough of those to line the whole shelf.
Up next is hanging a new peg board that he got to organize some of his fishing gear. Hopefully there will still be time to rehang my peg board and also my bulletin board/white board. There will, for sure, be time to push the bookshelves back against the walls and roll out the new rug.
The only major things left to do will be to go to Ikea to get the three additional bookshelves we want. We also need to add the track lighting to the ceiling. The track lighting was my husband’s idea. And no, he isn’t gay. His name is Josh. (If you are a true fan of 80s chick flicks, you will get the reference. Also, if you do get it, please let me know in the comments so that I don’t feel silly making a comment about my husband not being gay).
I have a feeling that once today’s tasks are done, we will spend a good portion of the evening in that room, after dinner of course. I envision Josh sitting at the desk surfing the web since we have a comfy desk chair and a large monitor. I’ll be in and out of the room bringing in items that have been crammed into the dining room and will now return to their rightful place. All will be right with the world.
Although, as of Friday morning around 10:00, all was right with the world then too. That’s because my other good news for this week is that the place where I had my interview at the end of January, they called me and offered the job to me. The salary is less than I asked for but more than I make now. Once they send me the offer letter and I sign it, I will put in my resignation at my current job. It won’t be effective immediately. Though I will be leaving with enough time between my last day here and my first day there to take a drive up to Cleveland to hang out with my oldest sister for the weekend. We are both really looking forward to it. I’ve had the good kind of anxiety this weekend. The Christmas Eve kind. My supervisor wasn’t there on Friday, so I’ll tell her on Monday and then once I submit my resignation, I will bask in the glory of the fact that I am a woman of my word. I told them not to mess with me, I’ll leave. Well, they kept messing with me, so I’m leaving. Merry Christmas to all!
