“Something Good” Sunday

I was waiting today to post my ‘something good’ because I had this wonderful picture planned out in my mind. I was going to have Josh take a picture of me sitting in our finished study/creative space. We went to Ikea yesterday and bought everything else we needed to make it the space we envisioned. Today, we spent the entire day working on it. Josh put the shelves together and anchored them to the wall. He hung another shelf close to the ceiling and hung our beach themed artwork on the walls. I stocked the shelves with books and put together a lamp we bought. All that’s left is to hang the couple of remaining pieces of art, then move in the armchair. Josh also needs to install the track lighting, which he couldn’t do because he couldn’t find the voltmeter thing that will allow him to wire in the lights without accidentally electrocuting himself.

So, no finished room picture today. However, the “something good” is still from today. I made our weekly trip to PetSmart to stock up on canned food for the cats and dogs for the upcoming week. I also grabbed two little kitty toys with catnip that were in a bin by the register.

When I got them home, I gave one to each of my feline friends. I was especially delighted that my 19-year old friend enjoyed her toy. I have a routine vet appointment for her on Tuesday and I’m worried that she will no longer be “remarkably healthy for her age” as they have repeatedly told me in the past. I’m mentally preparing for the inevitable. In the meantime, I’ll treasure these pictures of her still enjoying the little things.

May we all enjoy the simple things as much as my girl loves a 2 dollar toy filled with catnip.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
