Movie/music Monday

I’ve added quite a few “new” songs to my “Random Awesomeness” playlist recently. I still need to go back and add in some Prince, Aerosmith, and because of a clip I saw of John Fogerty on an old Conan O’Brien episode, I feel compelled to add some Creedence Clearwater Revival to my list.

Here are a couple screenshots of what I’ve added recently. It covers a wide range of genres and time periods.

Fun fact about “Dragula” by Rob Zombie—my favorite activity lately is to roll my car windows down ever so slightly and blast that song as I drive down the road. Especially if I’m wearing something normal like a hoodie. I don’t think I look like the typical person who would crank up a song like that. I also don’t look like the type of person who has tattoos all down her arms, but, here I am.

Did you catch that on this playlist, there’s yet another song with FU in the title? “I Don’t F*ck With You” by Big Sean and “abcdefu” by Gayle are both songs that I added around the time I was counting down my last days at my old job.

The great thing about having a playlist that is this varied, I have something on here for every mood. Sometimes I’m just not feeling Rob Zombie.

To see what kind of mood I was in today…didn’t start in the best one…I put in my air pods and skipped songs until one came up that felt right. I did that a few times and here’s a small sample of what “felt right” today:

  • “Save Tonight” by Eagle-Eye Cherry
  • “Stay” by Lisa Loeb
  • “Yesterday” by the Beatles
  • “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie

Maybe I should create another playlist with these “just right” songs. I do have one that’s titled “Relaxation Mode” and it’s mostly just James Taylor’s greatest hits.

I love iTunes and streaming in general for the ease of being able to curate a playlist based on whatever criteria I want.

What are you all listening to today?

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
