Flashback Friday
Ladies and gentlemen…once again, Katy Perry! I haven’t been to a lot of concerts in my life. Always admired my friends who went to great shows, but somehow I never thought that I could go see great concerts. I did see New Kids on the Block one time on one of their Mix Tape tours. They had Salt-n-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, and Debbie Gibson with them. That was amazing because I’ve been a fan of NKOTB since I was a single digit age. But, the seats were terrible! I had won them in a raffle at a fundraising auction at the school I was working at. So I had no say in what kind of seats I got. However, when Katy Perry came to my area last August, I took advantage of being a childfree adult with adult money and got the best seats available. These were even better than being on the floor given the figure 8 design of the stage and just the fact that those poor people had to stand on the concrete floor for the whole show. I’m old. I was very happy to be able to sit down between songs.
Seeing Katy Perry was a therapeutic experience for me. Her song “Roar” was my anthem the year I made the decision to leave my toxic job and start fresh somewhere else. The line, “I went from zero to my own hero” particular touches me. Experiencing that song live, with an arena full of people singing along healed something deep in my soul. I took a video of that entire song. Katy “floated like a butterfly” while she sang it. And by “floated like a butterfly” I mean she rode a mechanical butterfly high up in the air all the way around the arena. She went straight above my head too, it was fabulous!
