Flashback Friday
Since most of the schools in my area are out for summer break, I sought out a picture from a summer break of the past for this flashback Friday. It didn’t take me long to find one. As soon as I looked up at my shelf of photo albums, I saw this canvas print. My sister had it printed for me. I didn’t even know she took the picture at the time. She took it while walking behind me and thought it was adorable.

This was at the very least 10 years ago. I had come to Ohio to visit my family during my much anticipated and much deserved summer break. Those are my nephews and my niece to my left. We were walking around the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. I have two more nieces now, though my sister hadn’t even met their father yet at the time of this picture.
Those summer break visits were always so fun. Even if I wanted to take another trip like that this summer, it would definitely look very different. Now that one sister lives in Chicago, it would be difficult getting everybody into the same place for even a weekend. It’s possible, but would just take more coordination.
My summer at work is off to a good start. I remain very grateful for my not-so-new anymore job. The people remain truly fabulous, even if I did accidentally insult one of my coworkers this week. Word to the wise—don’t mention that something is worse than being a redheaded step child by saying it’s like the foster child who steals if in fact, your coworker grew up in foster care. I did immediately apologize.
With that said, I hope all of the teachers who read this are having a fabulous start to their summer break. And if it hasn’t started yet, hang in there! To everyone else, I hope you are all enjoying the start of summer, even though technically it doesn’t start until June 21st.
