“Something Good” Sunday
I almost forgot about posting today. Josh and I went to the movies today and we just got home. But actually, the movie we saw is an interesting topic for the “something good” today. Sort of.
I’d like to share two things that were good and, I’ll repeat, “interesting” for today. And the connection is that they are all science-fiction related, again, sort of.
First, a couple of weeks ago, my sister was so impressed with my Harry Styles wardrobe creations for my supervisor’s desk goose that she asked me to make something Beetlejuice themed for her coworker’s desk goose. She sent me a couple of inspiration pictures. I said I would, but I really didn’t want to. At least not then anyway. She doesn’t need this until August, so I did have time. I got in the mood on Thursday to start the project. So, on Thursday I started and I just finished yesterday. I did not go for an actual Beetlejuice costume because I doubted my skills. I also didn’t have lime green fun fur to make his hair. Instead, I opted to make a sandworm. If you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about. If not, this is the look I was going for:
And this is what I came up with, though not on my own. She had sent me a picture of what someone else had crocheted for their full size porch goose. I based my version on that picture.
My sister is currently being a tourist in Salem, Massachusetts for her birthday weekend and yet, when I texted her this picture yesterday, she called me immediately to say how perfect it was, so I guess, mission accomplished?
So that was good, but then today was a good thing for Josh. You know how they talk about men and the Roman Empire? Like, supposedly every man thinks about the Roman Empire at least once a day? It was a thing not long ago. Josh’s “Roman Empire” is actually the UFO conspiracies and the government cover-ups related to UFO (sorry, UAP) sightings and crashes. He listens to the podcasts, watches the videos, reads the books…all the things. He has told me a great deal about all of this. I’ve watched some of the videos and listened to the podcasts with him. I’m not as well informed as he is, but then again, this is his thing, what interests him the most right now (besides surf fishing). So today, since the movie “Disclosure Day” is still in theaters, we went to see it. We’ve been meaning to for a while. It’s a Steven Spielberg movie so of course it was good. But also, because we’ve done the research and heard what the real accounts are and what’s going on in real life with whistle blowers and evidence and all that, there were certainly some elements to the movie that made me question who wrote it because whoever did, is obviously in tune with what is being spread around right now.
Seeing the movie was the good thing about today. There’s something pretty cool about seeing movies in the theater, even if this movie has been out for a while so we had to see it in one of the smaller theaters at the end of the hallway. But here’s what’s funny, my hormones are all askew today because I cried at the end. When “disclosure day” went live, I shed tears. I especially shed tears after the very last line that was said before immediately cutting to the credits. If this is your thing, I do highly recommend this movie. If for no other reason than it was very Steven Spielberg-y. He just makes good movies, what can I say?
So, a very science fiction themed weekend was had and all in all, it made for a good time. I hope all of you had an enjoyable weekend, or at the very least, had moments that you enjoyed.
