“Something Good” Sunday

We still have power! That’s my something good on this Sunday.

Where I live, there’s a thin layer of ice over most everything. No power loss, which from what I’ve seen on the news, is similar to what is happening around the state. Not very many power outages.

We were able to enjoy a home cooked breakfast before taking the dogs outside to play for a little while. With the backyard being a sheet of ice, they didn’t have a lot of traction when chasing after their toys.

It doesn’t look like much, but that is all ice right there.

Millie quickly abandoned her toys and opted for breaking up and chewing a chunk of ice from her pool that we still haven’t brought in from the warmer months.

We have since gone back inside and taken up cozy positions on the couch.

Josh is ready just in case he gets called in to handle any emergency situations where he works. In the meantime though, we’re as settled in as the dogs. We’re enjoying the Wi-Fi and power while we have it. I’ll pull out a yarn project next. There’s supposed to be more freezing rain later today which I secretly hope will be enough for the powers-that-be to close my school for tomorrow. A second three day weekend would be lovely, and definitely a perfect way to round out all the good things on this Sunday.

  1. Fingers 🤞 for that 3 day weekend for you!!! Hope Josh gets to stay home today

    1. Thank you! His phone has been pretty quiet so far—which I should probably not actually post because of the bad luck with saying that word, lol!

      1. knocking on wook right now.

  2. Wow! They haven’t closed the schools with that much ice on the ground?! We have snow and a glazing of ice because of all the sleet we’ve had so far. We’re expected to get more sleet and snow and settle into freezing rain later, but I hope we keep power as well. My job will be closed tomorrow, and we are on a 3-hour delay for Tuesday due to how cold it is and will be for the next few days here. Stay warm and dry! 🙏🏾🩵

    1. Nope, not here in my county. Lots of counties around us have closed but from what I hear, the new superintendent of our county schools is from somewhere that this kind of weather is common so he doesn’t think this is a big deal. And the president of the college where I work? He is always at the very last minute with decisions. They told us on Friday that a decision about Monday won’t be made until Sunday night. The gossip is that his right hand “man”, woman in this case, is someone who used to be a nurse and also thinks people should go to work regardless of the weather.

      1. Yeah, I don’t play with ice. If it were snow, no biggie, but ice… in severe cold conditions, too?! Eff all of what they’d be saying, I would be staying home. LOL!

      2. Just got a text from my supervisor. Remote learning for tomorrow!

      3. BAYBAY!!! Yaaasssss! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 They came to their senses!

      4. Yup! They announced it pretty much at the exact same time as the county schools. I asked my supervisor if that meant we had to work remotely. She said just check my email a few times throughout the day and that’s it.

      5. Boom! Good deal. It’s about time! LOL!

    2. You stay warm and dry too! Hoping the power stays on for you!

      1. Thank you kindly. I truly appreciate that.

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
