“Something Good” Sunday

Yesterday, Josh and I spent probably half of our day outside in the heat. We trimmed the hedge on the side of our house in the early afternoon, i.e. the hottest part of the day. The heat index was 106, but Josh was determined to trim that hedge, so he did. I helped so that he could finish faster and not be outside as long. Then we went to that baseball game where it was 96 degrees and super stifling with no breeze for the whole game.

Today? We are hunkering down inside in front of the fan. The heat wave is definitely not the “something good” this week. Instead, let me share with you the purse I received in the mail today. In my online knitting group on Ravelry, I participated in a swap in which I was the recipient of this handmade bag.

Just one look at it and you can see why this was a highlight of my week.

The outside.
The inside.

My friend also included this t-shirt:

She says the silver accent fabric is an homage to a silver dress Dorothy wore in one of the episodes, but I like to think it’s an homage to Dorothy and Sophia’s grey hair. Josh says the texture of the bag even looks like what old lady handbags were made of. I agree! It’s the perfect bag and I have been carrying it all week with pride. Even carried it into my super professional, more business than casual job. It’s whimsical, it’s nostalgic, and it’s oh so good!

I hope you all can look back and find something good from this week, even if it’s not as good as my custom Golden Girls purse!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
