Why is Ethan acting like that?

Had to take my sweet, sensitive boy, Ethan, to the vet today to get his vaccines and regular check-up tests. He needs refills of his anti-anxiety medicine but I had to bring him in first.

I asked the doctor if it’s the medicine that is making him be so extremely timid, shy, and submissive.

The short version of her long answer is, it might not be the medicine. That just might be the kind of dog he is. We’re going to start tapering him down on the dose of the medicine to see how he responds. If there is no change, that means it’s not the meds and he just really is a mild-mannered, sensitive pup.

As my mother-in-law used to refer to her dog, Toby, Ethan is “my sweet prince”. He’s a good boy. Maybe a little too good. At least he’s not destroying everything in our living room like he was before we started him on the medicine. I’d like to not return to that version of him.

We’ll see how it goes.

  1. What a great picture. He is sitting there like the prince that he is. Such a good boy.

    1. He really is the best!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
