Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.
Did you ever see the movie “Gladiator”? Remember the scene when Maximus laughs at Proximo about “knowing” Marcus Aurelius? Let me refresh your memory because this scene is what popped into my head when I saw this prompt today.
Now, pretend I’m Proximo and you are Maximus. And let’s change the dialogue so it goes like this:
Me: She told me she had a crescent shawl pattern in mind.
You: (laughing) You knew Yeardley Smith (aka the lady who has voiced Lisa Simpson all these years)?!
Me: I did not say I knew her, I said she talked to me on Instagram once!
And by once, I mean last week. I honestly did get very excited and rode that high the rest of the week!
First of all, I only started following her recently. She is adorable and funny! The first video I saw of hers was where she was trying to draw her character:

There were quite few not appropriate for tv words that she used as she was drawing and she joked about us hearing Lisa Simpson curse. It was delightful!
So I started following her and then last week, she posted a video where she was winding yarn into a cake. She captioned it “Make a yarn cake with me” or something. Being the knitter that I am, I knew exactly what she was doing, because I do it all the time too. You use a swift and ball winder to take fancy hanks of yarn and wind them into “cakes” that you can pull from as you work on your project.

In her caption, she had also put what the yarn was. It was ToshDK and she named the color, which I have used before! So I commented about how Madelinetosh (the full name of the ToshDK yarn she was using), has such beautiful colors. I asked her what she was going to make with the yarn and she replied to me!

But it didn’t stop there! I replied to her again and told her that shawls are the best and I hope she’ll show it to us when she’s done. She replied with a clapping hands emoji I think it was.
Let me tell you! That was the coolest thing ever to happen on social media! And it was very much the highlight of my week…aside from my sisters visiting and seeing Katy Perry. It was quite the time last week!
Social media is the best for things like this. It has its downfalls, but the whole ability to interact with celebrities like this is just way cool. Which is why I about lost my mind that time I found out Jim Carrey was on Twitter. He wasn’t on there for very long though.
I will absolutely report back if she posts the shawl she makes from this yarn. Knitters are so cool! And so are the celebrities who knit!
