“Something Good” Sunday

And by something good, today, I mean something snowy. We were supposed to get a “bomb cyclone” of a snow storm yesterday in my state. It’s been super cold all week and the cold air was supposed to make it pure snow. And it did. For everybody east and west of my city. There was a “dry pocket” of strip of air that went vertically across my city. All day I saw people on social media and on the local news talking about the intensity of the snow they were getting just east and west of us. The meteorologists kept assuring us that the pocket would close up and we’d finally get snow. And we did. Starting around 8:30 last night and going well into the morning, we ended up with a blanket of fluffy snow over everything this morning.

Four inches is what I measured on the front steps.

The wind chill this morning gives us a “real feel” temperature of 4 degrees. So when I went outside, I didn’t stay long. Just gave myself time to snap some pictures and come back inside. Our puppies love the snow! No issues with getting them to go out in it at all!

Given that the roads are also covered in snow, I think I’m safe in assuming that I will have another 3-day weekend. Maybe 4, although I had already taken Tuesday off for some appointments.

The snow is definitely the best part of the week. But, other good things happened too. My interview went very well on Friday. At least, I think it did. And Josh started painting our spare bedroom yesterday that we are turning into a study. We should be finished with the painting sometime this week. I’m excited to have that space again for writing and making videos, which I haven’t done lately.

There’s no more snow expected today. It’s just going to be a day of sun glistening off the blanket of white out there. I’ll be inside going about my usual Sunday routine and eagerly waiting for the announcement about work tomorrow. Life is good.

We ended up getting 11 inches of snow in my area. Our last significant snowfall was in 2022, we received close to 5 inches, and the last one before that, (other than documented dustings) was in December of 2018, Diego was the storm. We received 14 inches of snow.

I KNOW I am not going to work tomorrow regardless of their decision today during our leadership call this afternoon. And I may not go on Tuesday, because DOT had NOT DONE a good enough job last week for me to be confident about this week.

Stay safe, warm, and dry. I am glad the interview went well, and I hope you keep us updated about the overall outcome! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

    1. Thank you! I will absolutely check it out! I remember we got a couple inches last year, but can’t remember the last time we had this much. 2022 sounds about right though. I think that’s when we were still in our old apartment before moving.

  2. I sometimes miss the snow, but not the cold temperatures. Enjoy the view from inside and here is hopong for a 3 day weekend.

    1. Yep! Got the 3-day confirmed around 1:00!

      1. Excellent!!!

  3. I’m in northern Illinois and we’ve had nothing but snow and below-freezing temps. I can’t wait for Spring!

    1. I used to love the cold weather! But now I’m like you, can’t wait for the warmth to come back!

Middle-aged Maverick is indeed middle-aged and she’s proud of it. She has a tendency to over think and over analyze many of the things she encounters in her life, as evidenced in many of her posts. She knows how to drive a stick-shift car, prefers Coke over Pepsi, and spent many of her adolescent years being obsessed with Jim Carrey.
